Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king’s commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them). The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their hurt: and no man could withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people. (Esther 9:1-2 NKJV)

We have now entered the biblical month of Adar(rda in Hebrew), which is the twelfth month of the biblical calendar, in the year of Ayin Hei. This month is a vital point in the year that represents a time to gain rule over the powers of darkness, a time to find supply that has been concealed and a time to rejoice that our curse has been overturned. We are in such an amazing time in history as God is restoring His glory in the earth.

The month of Adar is the third month of the winter season, which is comprised of the three months of Tevet, Shevat and Adar. The three tribes corresponding to the months of winter are Dan, Asher and Naphtali; who in the desert encampment around the tabernacle were situated to the North. Their joint camp was known as the camp of Dan, whose name means “a judge”. Every year during the winter season we have an opportunity to subdue our carnal nature, see what we have not seen and allow Holy Spirit to empower us to judge all things correctly. This is so important because it allows us to finish this season of blessing well and position ourselves to begin a new cycle of God’s blessing again during Passover.

The winter season is also the time when we are most vulnerable from the enemy because he desires to be seated on the mount of the congregation on the sides of the north. Isaiah 14:12-13 says, “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north.” This reference to the sides of the north is directly related to the camp of Dan, which was situated on the sides of the north. The alignment of the Dan, Asher and Naphtali is a representation of how the Lord establishes His glory as our rear guard.

The month of Adar is linked with the Hebrew letter Kuf. The letter Kuf takes the form of a sword that is crowned. It is written by combining the letter reish, which represents the cognitive beginning, and the zayin, which represents a sword. When Kuf is written the reish, the crown, is placed above the zayin, the sword, which penetrates the lower line. This allows us to see how we overcome the powers of darkness this month, by allowing the word to penetrate our mind and find its way to our heart. The name given to the letter Kuf is strength. The significance of the strength of Kuf is revealed Psalm 8:3-5 says, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet”.

Adar is also linked with the Tribe of Naphtali, who was Jacob’s second son born to Bilhah Rachel’s handmaid. When Naphtali was born Rachel said, “With great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali”, as such his name means wrestling. The root word for his name means to be crafty or deceitful. When Jacob blessed Naphtali he said, “Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words”. When Moses blessed Naphtali he said, “O Naphtali, satisfied with favour, and full with the blessing of the LORD: possess thou the west and the south”. Naphtali was the tribe filled with favor. Nazareth, which was within his territory, was where Jesus was raised and began His ministry.

We Have Dominion Over the Powers of Darkness

Psalm 29:11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

The twenty ninth Psalm reveals a glorious picture of God’s sovereignty over all creation. The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon. He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn. The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire. The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory. The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever. The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace (Psalm 29:3-11).

I believe this Psalm reveals to us the secret to obtaining strength from our Heavenly Father. David informs us that Yahweh’s voice is upon the waters and that He is upon many waters. The Hebrew word used here for waters is mayim, which is the same word used in the account of creation in the book of Genesis when the writer tells us that the Spirit of Elohim moved upon the face of the waters. This link to the creation story allows us to see that the voice of Yahweh is the Spirit of Elohim or Holy Spirit.

The breath that came from God’s lungs as He produced the sounds of creation, His voice, is Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is powerful and full of majesty. He breaks the cedars of Lebanon and divides the flames of fire. He shakes the wilderness and sits upon the flood. He gives strength to us and allows us to live in the blessing of Yahweh, the blessing of peace. He produces dominion within us that enables us to have dominion over the powers of darkness.

Jesus, after Holy Spirit descended upon Him at His baptism, was led by Holy Spirit into the wilderness to confront the devil. It is my conviction that He went into this encounter with just as much power as He came out with. Holy Spirit resting upon and living within Him enabled Him to defeat the devil by using the words of God. As His breath moved across His vocal chords producing the sound I believe satan began to feel the power and majesty that was within His voice. I believe the thundering’s of His words shook satan to his core.

We too are able to shake the powers of darkness when we are moving under the inspiration of Holy Spirit to declare a thing. When the voice of Yahweh, Holy Spirit, gives us the utterance to declare the Father’s will, all of creation must respond. There is a historical account of the Apostle John confronting the goddess Dianna in Ephesus where her statue split and crashed to the ground at his decree. After this encounter, many began to serve Jesus and Ephesus became an epicenter for the Church for nearly 200 years. It’s time to shake the foundations of the powers of darkness with our thunderous praises to our King!

God is Opening Our Eyes to New Provision

Act 27:21-25 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss. And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of [any man’s] life among you, but of the ship. For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

Paul’s testimony of the angel coming to him in the midst of what appeared to be fatal circumstances is so striking to me. He found himself in a situation that was not his choice or desire but found provision to propel him into his destiny anyway. Paul, being a prisoner of Rome on his way to be present before Ceaser, had informed the captain of the ship that they should stay in Lasea and winter there. The captain however chose to believe the owner of the ship rather than Paul’s counsel and they found themselves in very dire circumstances.

The Father’s desire to get us to our place of destiny is so powerful that it overshadows every circumstance that declares something different. I do not believe it was God’s will for Paul to find himself on this ship in the midst of a tempestuous wind but never the less he found himself there. In the midst of this circumstance, the ship was caught up in the waves so that the captain lost control. I do believe this is where God took over in His sovereignty to ensure Paul reached his destination safely. The captain of the ship refused Paul’s counsel and chose his own way nearly causing them all to die but destiny said “NO”!

The angel of the Lord was sent to reveal to Paul that the voice of the Lord is upon the waters and sits upon the flood. Even the storm named Euroclydon had to bow and obey His voice.

Two Sunday’s ago at Freedom House during worship we heard the sound of the shofar without anyone blowing one. I stopped worship and asked who was blowing the shofar and no one had blown one. There were two shofars in the room; one was on the platform leaning on the wall and mine was in a case beside me. We also asked if anyone had a ring tone on their phone that had gone off but everyone said no.

This happened while we were singing Darlene Zchesch’s song In Jesus Name, which has a line that says, “God is fighting for us pushing back the darkness”. Numbers 10:9 says, “And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies”. I had sounded the alarm on my shofar earlier in the service as I do nearly every Sunday but this day we got a supernatural reply from Heaven! We have been remembered before the throne of God. He is fighting for us, pushing back the darkness and delivering us from the hands of our enemies!!
